Tuesday & Wednessday December 29 & 30
From 14.00 till 16.00 hrs.
In this 2×2 hour workshop (divided over two days) a scala of vocal exercises derived from different vocal traditions will be introduced to participants who are interested in training their voice while deepening their understanding of rhythm and different eastern music styles. Overtone singing, Indian Raga /gamelan and Indian rhythmical patterns/ improvisation will be presented and practiced.
The workshop consists out of three parts:
Part 1) Warming up
The warming up starts with a vocal meditation using vowels accompanied by the drone of the tanpura (see picture). From there an Indian raga scale will be introduced.
Part 2) Indian Raga
Exercises to get familiarised with the Indian scale will be introduced. We don’t use lyrics, only abstract syllables. The method is based on demonstration, imitation, repetition and vocal coaching.
Part 3) improvisation with melody and rhythms
The workshop will conclude with a playful group improvisation.
We look forward to welcome you in the intimate settings of Yogasalon!
